Children should be born with a handbook, but luckily, parents who reside in the Alton community now have access to a FREE Parent Training Program that gives them proven, effective, parenting strategies and techniques. For parents of children age 3-18
12- three hour sessions cover five curriculum components and provide parents with the information needed to change destructive behavior, along with specific alternatives to their current discipline techniques. This program will assist parents in creating guidelines for teaching respectful behavior and to enhance parent’s ability to respond in an effective manner.
The five components include the following:
All components are used to assist parents and children in developing strong cultural values, a positive Parent-Child relationship and life skills necessary for succeeding in today’s society. Anger Management and Positive Discipline are the main vehicle used to foster high self-esteem, self-discipline and social competence.
Each session is facilitated by a trained instructor who will use modeling, role play, lecture, discussion and parent follow up activities.
